German migration talks fail, plans do not go far enough for CDU


German government and opposition party CDU/CSU have failed to agree on the tightening of migration policies, with CDU leader Friedrich Merz stating that the proposed measures do not go far enough. Despite this, the party has not ruled out supporting certain proposals in parliament, while Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has announced passport checks and the rejection of migrants at the German border if they have already sought asylum in another EU country.
