Inspectorate warns of increasing risk of unsafe situations as fewer and fewer inland skippers comply with regulations, especially around sailing and rest periods. This can be explained by a combination of factors, such as crew shortages, crowded shipping lanes and complex regulations. The Inspectorate advocates a digital and user-friendly monitoring tool to improve safety.
