Production of primal Dutch bicycles slowly disappears from the Netherlands
The Dutch bicycle industry is changing: the production of ordinary bicycles by Batavus and Sparta is being moved abroad, partly due to debts at parent company Accell. Although this is a severe blow to employees and an end to an era of primal Dutch bicycle production, the Netherlands remains a forerunner in the development of new bicycle technology.
