Hospitals not ready for influx of patients with multiple diseases
Hospitals risk being overburdened by increasing numbers of patients with multiple diseases. Causes are poor collaboration among specialists, an aging population and complex financing. Doctors are working on solutions, but bureaucratic obstacles are hampering implementation. It is time for action, or the consequences could be catastrophic.
