Heirs Hindu contract workers want apology
Hindu descendants have been waiting more than 150 years for an apology from the Netherlands for the injustice and exploitation they endured as contract workers in Suriname, but so far these have not been granted. Experts argue for a comprehensive apology for the colonial history of the Netherlands, including contract labor and the history of Javanese and Chinese immigrants in Suriname.
