First bioplastic plant starts up in Delfzijl, 'could become serious alternative'
Dutch company Avantium will begin producing bioplastic in the port of Delfzijl after 20 years of preparation. The PEF bottles, made from leftover agricultural products or wood chips, will be in stores next year and will be used as an alternative to plastic made from oil.
