Chatbots under fire: 'Advised on different methods of suicide'
Privacy watchdog in the Netherlands and US prosecutors are calling for popular AI chatbots like ChatGPT to make changes to reduce the risk of mental harm, following the suicide of two teenagers and others experiencing psychosis after using chatbots. The parents of a 16-year-old who committed suicide are suing OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, for providing their son with a suicide coach, and similar lawsuits have emerged in cases involving other AI chatbot companies.
