Rental agencies are increasingly requesting privacy-sensitive information from house seekers such as a bank statement and bank reconciliation, which according to the Personal Data Authority and the Woonbond is unnecessary and affects the privacy of house seekers. However, the lack of transparency and the tightness in the housing market often causes house seekers to give in to these requests anyway.
