'Catch men earlier to prevent femicide'
According to criminal justice expert Ellen Gijselaar, the Netherlands could take a cue from Scotland to reduce the number of femicide cases, by criminalizing patterned behavior that can lead to femicide and thus being able to intervene more quickly and prevent these cases. Gijselaar also stresses the importance of looking at the bigger picture and gender-based violence when releasing defendants.
