NOC*NSF president Van Zanen calls choice of Coventry 'beautiful and surprising'
Zimbabwean Kirsty Coventry has been elected the new president of the International Olympic Committee with the support of a majority of 49 votes. Previous favorites, such as Sebastian Coe, received far fewer votes. Coventry plans to provide more support for female athletes and will deal with key issues such as Russian participation and possible problems with travel documents for athletes and officials to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics under President Trump's administration.
