Dutch hospitals discontinue anticonvulsants after 30 weeks of pregnancy

Dutch hospitals are stopping the prescription of labor-stopping medication to women who are 30 weeks pregnant and at risk of premature birth, as research found it does not improve the health of the unborn child. The study followed over 800 children and found no difference in outcomes between those who received labor-stopping medication and those who received a placebo. This raises questions about the standard practice in the Netherlands for the past 70 years and highlights the importance of prevention when it comes to premature birth.
