Bouterse supporters say goodbye after hours-long hearse ride through Paramaribo
Hundreds of supporters of the late former Surinamese president Bouterse attended his farewell ceremony at the office of his party, the National Democratic Party (NDP), followed by his cremation. Despite a partial boycott by some media outlets, Bouterse's handpicked successor and loyalists paid their final respects along with his opponents and the four other convicted accomplices who were allowed to briefly leave prison to say goodbye.
