In this Surinamese village, memory of massacre lives on after Bouterse death

Decades after the mass murder of 39 innocent villagers, including children and pregnant women, in the Surinamese village of Moiwana, survivors and relatives of the victims are still fighting for justice and the return of their loved ones' remains. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights condemned the Surinamese government for the massacre in 2005 and ordered reparations, but the perpetrators, including former dictator and current president Bouterse, have never been held accountable.
