Destruction of Armenian heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh: 'Deliberate erasure of history'


One year after tens of thousands of ethnic Armenians fled the enclave of Nagorno-Karabach out of fear of ethnic cleansing, there is little evidence of their former presence as buildings, monuments, cemeteries and entire villages have been destroyed. According to verified footage, the destruction of cultural heritage is often used as a deliberate tactic in conflicts around the world, including in places like Nagorno-Karabach where it is also used to legitimize claims to land.
